10-year-old boy fatally injured in bicycle accident with four-wheeler in western India
A 10-year-old boy died after being run over by a four-wheeler while riding his bicycle in western India’s Maharashtra.
The incident took place at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee ground in Bhigwan area of Indapur in Pune District on June 18.
Visuals showed a young boy, gleefully pedaling his bicycle, collided with a turning car. The vehicle, unable to halt in time, tragically continued forward, overwhelming the child beneath it. Immediately, bystanders rushed to the site, drawn by the commotion and the urgent need for assistance.
Tragedy struck around 6 PM, when 10-year-old Samarth Sushil Shinde was fatally injured in a vehicular accident. Samarth, who had just returned from his first day of school and was joyfully riding his bicycle, collided with a turning four-wheeler on the open field.
According to witnesses, Samarth approached the vehicle from behind, losing balance and falling as he collided with it. The driver, Prem Manoj Bhosle from Bhigwan, was unable to stop the vehicle in time, resulting in the car running over the young boy and causing severe injuries.
Immediate efforts were made to save Samarth as he was rushed to Pune for medical treatment. However, despite the swift actions, he succumbed to his injuries during the transfer.
In a distressing turn of events, driver Prem Manoj Bhosle fled the scene following the accident. Authorities are currently searching for him to address the incident.
Samarth’s untimely death has left his family and the local community in deep sorrow. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for increased caution and safety in shared public spaces.
