10 million devotees flock to Mahakumbh 2025 on first day

Mahakumbh 2025, a major pilgrimage and festival, is happening in India. On the first day of the Mahakumbh, over 10 million devotees took a holy dip at Sangam, the sacred confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

This holy event takes place in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, in Prayagraj city from January 13 to February 26.

Visuals from AI-cam and drones show thousands of devotees taking a dip in Sangam amidst dense fog that adds to the chilly atmosphere. A seven-ring security can be seen to monitor and protect the people.

According to sources, around 450 million devotees are expected to attend the 45-day festival including people from all over the world. An enhanced security plan is in place for the festival.

Mahakumbh is held in Prayagraj every twelve years. Mahakumbh 2025 is more special because of the rare celestial alignment after 144 years. This attracts people from all over the world to experience this sacred festival.
